What to Expect:

  • Location Selection: Decide where you want your Beehive and Colony to be placed.

  • Options for Placement: If you're unable to host a Beehive and Colony at your personal dwelling due to restrictions, fret not! You have the option of housing your Beehive and Colony at one of Mom’s two apiaries.

  • Equipment Purchase: Purchase the Beehive ($250.00) and a Honey Bee Colony ($350.00) from Mom’s Beehive, and pay a Beehive Installation fee of $75.00.

  • Installation: Mom will schedule and complete the installation of your personal Beehive and Colony of Honey Bees.

  • Monthly Maintenance: Mom takes care of all the work, and you reap the benefits for a monthly service fee of $60.00. Your Beehive and Colony will receive thorough seasonal attention, including checks every two weeks from April through July, monthly checks from August to November, and no checks at all from December to April. Communication of Colony status will be via service cards or email.

  • Health Measures: To protect the health of the Colony, inspections will not occur during dearth, overcast, raining, or below 65 degrees.

Benefits of Backyard Beekeeping:

Backyard beekeeping offers numerous benefits, including the production of Honey, Honey Comb, and a boost in Pollination for nearby plants.

Natural Beekeeping Practices:

At Mom’s Beehive, we practice Natural Beekeeping. Within our Beehives, our Colonies are never exposed to Plastic, Poison, Treatments, Pesticides, or Supplemental Feedings, and they are kept Intervention free. We prioritize the well-being of our bees and will never exploit them for honey production.

One of our mentors teaches a “Less is more” approach to Beekeeping, emphasizing minimal intervention and sustainable practices. (Note: Over 90% of beekeepers routinely apply pesticides or toxic "organic acids" to their honey-producing hives.)
